Mini-COBRA Policies (Small Group)
Mississippi law mandates continuation coverage for small employers (employers with less than 20 employees). This requirement is found in the mini-COBRA law under the Mississippi Insurance Code 83-9-51.
Mississippi Medicare Savings Program
There are four Medicare Savings Programs available in the state of Mississippi.
*The following data is from 2017 and is based on federal amounts. If your income and resources are slightly higher, you should still apply, you may qualify for benefits even if your income is higher than the limits listed.
*Qualified Medicare Beneficiaries (QMBs): QMBs range from individuals with a monthly income under $1,010 or couples with a monthly income under $1,355. The state pays all premiums for Medicare Part B and all co-payments and deductibles for Medicare Parts A and B.
*Specified Low-Income Medicare Beneficiaries (SLMBs): SLMBs range from individuals with a monthly income under $1,208 or couples with a monthly income under $1,622. The state pays premiums for Medicare Part B.
*Qualified Individuals (QIs): QIs range from individuals with a monthly income under $1,357 or couples with a monthly income under $1,823. The state pays premiums for Medicare Part B.
*Qualified Working and Disabled Individuals (QWDIs): QWDIs range from individuals with a monthly income under $4,045 or couples with a monthly income under $5,425. The state pays premiums for Medicare Part A.

State Health Insurance Assistance Program (SHIP)
Your local Mississippi SHIP program offers counseling designed to help you understand your important Medicare benefits and answer your other health insurance questions. Mississippi SHIP equips Medicare eligible individuals and caregivers with information about the resources available to make the right decision about health insurance coverage or to address problems that may arise.
